ABET

ABET Aksyon pou Byen èt Timoun / Action for the Well-being of Children

ABET is a non-profit organization created in June 2019 by a group of individuals to support the children and youth of the La Gonâve district. This organization was established because many children living on the island do not have access to education and health services, nor do they receive the necessary support for their development. Therefore, ABET aims to work continuously and tirelessly in the field of child protection, prioritizing Education, Health, and Environment.

Intervention Focus Areas

ABET

Health

ABET aims to address the health aspect both on a curative and preventive level.

Education

Education will be the pivot around which the health and environment pillars will revolve.

Environment

The environment is the backdrop to the entire program.

HEALTH: The data collected on the health status of children in La Gonâve, as in all regions of the country, indicate that these children are exposed to several types of risks, including malnutrition, skin diseases, and other childhood illnesses. ABET aims to address health both curatively and preventively through mobile clinic consultations, preventive health training workshops, and other therapeutic activities that consider physical, mental, and psychological health.

EDUCATION: Education is the pivot around which the pillars of health and environment revolve. The Education component will address both formal and non-formal education, prioritizing expression and creation as fundamental elements for the healthy and harmonious development of children and adolescents.

ENVIRONMENT: The environment is the backdrop of the entire program. It is the transversal component that is present in health, education, reflection workshops, and creative activities. Overall well-being, as understood here, addresses the child, adolescent, and youth in their entirety and in the environment in which they evolve.
